Bad Left Hook

IBF middleweight titleholder Gennadiy Golovkin is getting up there in age — now 37 — and has recently decided to make another change to his training regimen. Golovkin, who parted ways with longtime trainer Abel Sanchez last year in favor of Jonathan Banks, has now started a strength-and-conditioning program under the guidance of Victor Conte and his SNAC program, as reported by ESPN.com

Conte had sort of an infamous reputation from the whole BALCO scandal years back, but has since tried to reform his image. In recent years Conte has been working with fighters such as Julian Williams, Devin Haney, Demetrius Andrade and Mikey Garcia, among some other notable fighters, physically preparing them for battle.

For Golovkin, he’s currently beginning a 10-day pre-camp training program as he’s looking to return to action be the end of March. Golovkin is most recently coming off a close decision win over Sergiy Derveyanchenko last October, where he officially regained a major world title.
